Castello di Spedaletto - Residenza d'Epoca
HISTORY:
This magnificent Castle
of Spedaletto was built in the XII century along the ancient Via Francigena,
which in the Middle Ages was the link between Rome and northern Italy.
Already in the year 1200 the castle was administrated by the Spedale di
Santa Maria della Scala and had surely the function of a fortified farm
as well as hostel for the pilgrims. In the Middle of 15th century the
castle was restored and got additional fortifications. This castle is
half way between Pienza and San Quirico and has still nowadays a very
special atmosphere. The Agriturismo is situated in one of the most beautiful
valleys and countryside of Tuscany, the "Val
d'Orcia". UNESCO
has declared Val d'Orcia a World
Heritage site.
APARTMENTS/ROOMS:
The Agriturismo was built in a secondary building, the old wheat deposit.
The farmhouses have kept their traditional charm, while responding to
modern needs of comfort and elegance. There are two apartments and five
charming double rooms each with their own bathroom. The furniture is antique
and rustic, with pieces from the countryside of Siena. The fields around
the Agriturismo belong to the Grappi family farm and have been worked
with organic methods for more than ten years. All products offered to
the guests are homemade products from the farm.

FROM NORTH: Valdichiana exit of the A1 motorway Firenze-Roma
in direction of Roma, continue towards Bettolle-Torrita di Siena-Pienza
go toward Monte Amiata for about 8 km. After Pienza at the first crossroad
turn right for Siena and San Quirico. After 2 km on your left hand side
you will find the Spedaletto Castle.
FROM SOUTH: Arrival from Rome and South, highway A1:
Exit Chiusi-Chianciano of the A1 motorway Firenze-Roma in direction of
Firenze, continue towards Chianciano Terme and from Chianciano follow
the signs for La Foce-San Quirico. After Chianciano you will arrive at
a crossroad where you turn left for Siena and San Quirico. After 2 km
on your left hand side you will find the Spedaletto Castle.

POOL:
The pool is currently under construction and scheduled to open in the
summer of 2007.

the estate, there are banks, chemists, supermarkets, a post office and
